Sardine

SARDINE // Lausanne

Crowning Lausanne’s old city center, the restaurant Sardine replaces the celebrated Caffe Bellini - designed 10 years or so ago by Julia Christ.

This new identity is defined by a strong desire to offer an innovative gastronomic and architectural experience. From the very first lignes defining the global concept, the notions of adventure and discovery have shaped the new face of this venue. Such ambition of exploration is reflected in both the creative design and the innovative and bold gastronomic approach thus offering a true sensory experience.

The complete rebranding, from interior design to the new visual identity, was conceived by Studio Julia Christ.

The refined and bold cuisine proposed by the Michelin starred chef aims to make Sardine a new benchmark gourmet address in Lausanne. This sensory adventure takes place in a setting inspired by the stories and illustrations of John Reeves, introducing a new tropical language with a mix of colourful and natural tones. The choice of the materials and traditional techniques, bespoke furniture, and multiple ambiances through the venue, offer different backdrops for many stories to be told, from a daytime coffee and lunch, to evening drinks, diner and private events.

On the walls, artworks by renewed photographers Ressia Romina and Lee Jeffries as well as a number of objets from a private collection, blend in seamlessly with the bespoke tiled mural.

Downstairs the cellar has also been completely redesigned to make it an ideal gathering place for events. Featuring a 6m long oak table, custom made on site by local artisans, the lime painted vaulted ceilings and hand woven light fixtures create a perfect setting for private events or a shared table that guests can enjoy without a booking.

The interior design and branding reflect the youthful and modern concept of this restaurant making it the new place to be in Lausanne.
